Rod, who lives near Nailsworth in South Gloucestershire is a self-taught woodblock printmaker who takes inspiration from many different sources – from nature, from landscape, from other artists and printmakers and even from the art and craft of just making prints for their own sake.
As well as having work in exhibitions around the country, Rod’s work has been shown at the Royal Academy in London, the Mall Galleries, London, The Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, and at the Royal West of England Academy (RWA). His work has also been shown at international print exhibitions in China and New York.
He currently teaches woodcut at the renowned college of the arts and crafts at West Dean in Sussex, as well as at the RWA, in Germany, Holland, Norway and in Nailsworth. He is co-author (with Merlyn Chesterman RE) of the book ‘Making Woodblock Prints’, published by Crowood Press.
