My paintings are responses to the constant changing skies and weather and how this influences the landscape through light and colour. Clouds particularly fascinate me, from powerful storm formations that nature throws up to the quieter whispy ones on a summer evening. One place that I love to observe this is Scotland – huge vistas with constantly changing weather.
I always have my sketchbook with me and take many photographs whilst travelling around. In my studio I will work on several paintings at one time. The paintings I make are somewhere between a moment captured at a location, a memory, feeling and my imagination.
