Lia Hattersley is a landscape and still life artist based in St Albans. She works in a range of media most often in oil paint. Trained as an architect and also as a design journalist, Lia has increasingly returned to her childhood fascination with fine art over recent years, and now works full time as an artist.
Much of lia’s work is undertaken working pleinair (outside) from direct observation from which she seeks mysterious elements in everyday places and focuses on the changing aspects of beauty revealed by temporary light patterns.
Lia has recently been exhibited in several Hertfordshire and London galleries and was awarded the Hampstead Art Society Exhibition Michael Harding Oil Paints prize last summer. Last November Lia held her first week long solo show comprising of nearly 50 pieces at The Bakery Artist-run Gallery in Portobello Rd, London. Since then she has continued to sell her work through the gallery where it has been bought by many local and international collectors.
