I live and work in rural Hertfordshire and the surrounding countryside is a huge influence on my work. My business, designing and making stained glass, began twenty years ago when I took a course to learn how to repair the stained glass in our “new” Edwardian home. I was soon completely hooked on the craft, did more and more courses to become proficient, and before long I was making windows for friends and neighbours. So it was almost by accident that I found I had a thriving business on my hands.
In my work I employ both traditional leading and glass painting and firing techniques, using my kiln. I also practise the copper-foiling methods devised by Tiffany for his windows. Several years ago, I started designing and making a range of smaller glass decorative items: for example leaded panels and mirrors, hearts, angels and tea-light holders as well as Christmas items such as stars, trees and robins (which are very popular). This side of my business has become an increasingly large part of my work.
